I recently saved about 66% on my own move with a new home I purchased. It was a roller coaster short sale ride of a lifetime that went on from February to June 2009. I had moved just 11 months earlier and it was expensive. I found the ultimate resource for Northern Virginia moving supplies and boxes-- a business called Better Buy Boxes. Here's there website betterbuyboxes.com
Better Buy Boxes for Virginia Fairfax County Boxes Moving Supplies
The regular retail for a book box is $5.00 versus $1.25 at Better Buy Boxes and I even got some used book boxes for .88 cents. Compare that with what the moving company Unified Moving Services, LLC of Maryland and Virginia charged me a year ago-- $7.50/book box [see below for their price sheet] It was so expensive to have a bait and switchy feel to it. But the main point is for those you who need moving supplies you cannot go wrong with Better Buy Boxes for Fairfax, Mclean, Chantilly, Arlington, -- anywhere in Fairfax County or Loudon County moving supplies....They also deliver. Go for it.
Note--I did not receive any discounts from them--I just like to share consumer tips with my buyer, readers when I find them. I've created a new category to the right called Consumer tips. If you have any send them to me....As you've seen from my overpriced condo series--see categories of blog subjects to right I love saving buyers $$$$. Contact my JustNewListings.com team when it's time to buy or sell your home and you will have a consumer advocate protecting your interests....

Moving Supplies Boxes as Charged by Unified Moving Services, LLC for Maryland and DC and Virginia

As you can see the prices for supplies at Unified Moving Services Movers in Northern Virginia Maryland and DC are expensive. However if you can get your own supplies in advance...they offer 4 very hard working movers for $95/hour which is very competitive. I had to force them to stop working to have lunch. They worked 13 hours intensely moving me last year. By purchasing in advance and packing you can easily save 50% on your move and save about $1000 on your moving supplies.

Great tip. I've also had some of my real estate clients find moving boxes on Craigslist.
